ORANGE THE WORLD
Tijdens de wereldwijde campagne Orange the World wordt in november en december 2026 zestien dagen lang aandacht gevraagd voor geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes. De campagne roept op tot bewustwording en stimuleert het gesprek over consent, seksueel geweld en grensoverschrijdend gedrag. Alleen door het taboe te doorbreken en met elkaar in gesprek te gaan, kunnen we bijdragen aan een samenleving waarin grenzen worden gerespecteerd en iedereen zich veilig kan voelen.
HEAR ME NOW Den Haag van 1 tot en met 11 december 2026 sluit aan bij Orange the World en is een samenwerking tussen De Haagse Hogeschool, Emancipator, Centrum 1622 en HEAR ME. Mede mogelijk gemaakt door de gemeente Den Haag.
Met dit project willen we studenten, medewerkers en andere betrokkenen uitnodigen om stil te staan bij de impact van seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag en seksueel geweld. HEAR ME NOW is een combinatie van een expositie, workshops en trainingen.
De Haagse Hogeschool wil een hogeschool zijn waar iedereen zich veilig, gehoord en gezien voelt. Daar wordt iedere dag aan gewerkt. Alleen zo kunnen de bijna 25.000 studenten en ongeveer 2.500 medewerkers met meer dan 150 verschillende nationaliteiten zich volledig ontwikkelen en het beste uit zichzelf halen. Door mee te doen aan HEAR ME NOW Den Haag vraagt De Haagse Hogeschool extra aandacht voor seksueel geweld en grensoverschrijdend gedrag en de hulp en ondersteuning die er is voor studenten en medewerkers als hen dit overkomt.
DE EXPOSITIE
De expositie bestaat uit portretten en persoonlijke verhalen van vrouwen en mannen die hun ervaringen delen. Hun verhalen laten zien hoe ingrijpend (online) seksueel geweld kan zijn, maar ook hoe belangrijk het is om gehoord te worden.
Ieder persoon vertelt hoe deze diens stem vond om zich uit te spreken en nodigt bezoekers uit om hetzelfde te doen. Het nodigt ook bezoekers uit om na te denken over hun eigen rol. Hoe luisteren we naar elkaar? Hoe reageren we wanneer iemand iets deelt? En hoe kunnen we bijdragen aan een veilige omgeving voor iedereen?
Medewerkers en studenten worden uitgenodigd de expositie te bezoeken. Het is een unieke kans om samen een gesprek te starten dat verder reikt dan de muren van de tentoonstelling. Door te luisteren, vragen te stellen en met elkaar in gesprek te blijven, kunnen we bijdragen aan een cultuur waarin seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag niet wordt genegeerd, maar bespreekbaar wordt gemaakt.
HEAR ME NOW belicht ook de positieve rol van jongens en mannen in de preventie van seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag en seksueel geweld. De expositie bevat een paneel met portretten van mannen die zich uitspreken tegen seksueel geweld en zich verbinden aan de missie om het taboe te doorbreken. Seksueel geweld raakt niet alleen meisjes en vrouwen, ook jongens en mannen worden ermee geconfronteerd. Dit is ook een taboe dat aandacht verdient. WORKSHOPS EN TRAININGEN
De expositie wordt ondersteund door workshops en trainingen voor studenten en medewerkers, verzorgd door Emancipator, en trainingen voor professionals, verzorgd door Centrum 1622. Tijdens deze bijeenkomsten is er ruimte voor ontmoeting, reflectie en gesprek. Deelnemers worden uitgenodigd om stil te staan bij thema's als consent, gendernormen, grensoverschrijdend gedrag en omstandergedrag.
Het doel is studenten en professionals handvatten te bieden om het gesprek aan te gaan, signalen te herkennen en bij te dragen aan een veilige leer- en werkomgeving. Meer informatie over de workshops en trainingen voor studenten en medewerkers van De Haagse Hogeschool is te vinden op hun intranet.
BEZOEK DE EXPOSITIE
De expositie HEAR ME NOW is van 1 tot en met 11 december 2026 te zien in het Atrium van De Haagse Hogeschool, locatie Johanna Westerdijkplein 75 in Den Haag. De toegang is gratis. Er zijn mogelijkheden voor rondleidingen en aanvullende toelichting op de tentoonstelling.
OFFICIËLE OPENING
De opening belooft een inspirerende bijeenkomst te worden, met persoonlijke verhalen, ruimte voor ontmoeting en natuurlijk een bezoek aan de expositie. Uiteraard zorgen we voor een hapje en een drankje. Iedereen die dit onderwerp belangrijk vindt, is van harte welkom, of je nu student, medewerker of anderszins betrokken bent.
Tijdens de bijeenkomst nemen we je mee in het verhaal achter HEAR ME NOW en laten we zien en horen hoe dit project tot stand is gekomen. De expositie wordt officieel geopend door de voorzitter van het College van Bestuur van De Haagse Hogeschool Elisabeth Minnemann. De bijeenkomst wordt afgesloten met spoken word van Amara van der Elst.
Na afloop is er gelegenheid om de expositie te bezoeken, na te praten en elkaar te ontmoeten.

LUNCHVOORSTELLING DAVEY TURNHOUT
Op 8 december van 12.00 tot 13.00 uur geeft cabaretier Davey Turnhout een voorstelling Chaos in de Speakers’ Corner in het hoofdgebouw van De Haagse Hogeschool aan het Johanna Westerdijkplein 75. In de voorstelling vertelt hij op een open en toegankelijke manier over zijn eigen ervaringen met seksueel misbruik en de impact daarvan. Juist de combinatie van humor, kwetsbaarheid en het gesprek achteraf maakt de voorstelling sterk.
Deelname is gratis en vrij toegankelijk. Lunch is inclusief.

Er zijn veel mensen met een verhaal. Als slachtoffer, als omstander of als iemand die achteraf beseft dat er grenzen zijn overschreden. Soms zijn die rollen minder duidelijk dan we denken. HEAR ME NOW nodigt je uit om stil te staan bij jouw eigen verhaal. Wat heb jij meegemaakt? Wat heb jij gezien? En wat kun jij doen?
Misschien zoek je antwoorden, herkenning of hulp. Misschien wil je leren hoe je iemand kunt steunen. Of misschien wil je verantwoordelijkheid nemen voor gedrag waar je op terugkijkt. Verandering begint vaak met luisteren, eerlijk kijken naar jezelf en het gesprek aangaan.

THE HAGUE
A CONVERSATION ABOUT CONSENT, SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND MISCONDUCT.
WORLDWIDE, ONE IN THREE WOMEN EXPERIENCES PHYSICAL AND/OR SEXUAL VIOLENCE DURING HER LIFE. IN THE NETHERLANDS, 54% OF GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN AND 22% OF BOYS AND YOUNG MEN AGED BETWEEN 12 AND 25 HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME FORM OF PHYSICAL SEXUAL BOUNDARY VIOLATION, INCLUDING SEXUAL VIOLENCE. OF THESE, 22% OF GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN AND 5% OF BOYS AND YOUNG MEN HAVE EXPERIENCED SEXUAL VIOLENCE.
THE FIGURES ARE PARTICULARLY HIGH AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE AND STUDENTS. YOUNG WOMEN AGED 16 TO 24 ARE AT A SIGNIFICANTLY GREATER RISK OF EXPERIENCING SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND MISCONDUCT THAN ANY OTHER AGE GROUP.
THESE FIGURES SHOW THAT SEXUAL HARASSMENT, MISCONDUCT AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE ARE NOT ISOLATED INCIDENTS BUT A WIDESPREAD SOCIAL ISSUE AFFECTING MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES. CREATING LASTING CHANGE REQUIRES US TO KEEP LISTENING, CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION, AND MAKE SPACE FOR STORIES THAT TOO OFTEN GO UNHEARD.
ORANGE THE WORLD
Every November and December, the global Orange the World campaign shines a spotlight on violence against women and girls over sixteen days of action. The campaign raises awareness and encourages conversations about consent, sexual violence and sexual harassment and misconduct. Only by breaking the stigma and talking openly about these issues we can help build a society in which personal boundaries are respected, and everyone feels safe.
HEAR ME NOW The Hague is running from 1 to 11 December 2026 as part of the Orange the World campaign and is a collaboration between The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Emancipator, Centrum 1622 and HEAR ME, with the support of the Municipality of The Hague.
Through this project, we invite students, employees and members of the wider community to reflect on the impact of sexual harassment, misconduct and sexual violence. HEAR ME NOW combines an exhibition with workshops and training sessions.
The Hague University of Applied Sciences strives to be a place where everyone feels safe, heard and valued. This is something the university works towards every day. It enables almost 25,000 students and around 2,500 employees, representing more than 150 nationalities, to develop their talents and reach their full potential.
By taking part in HEAR ME NOW The Hague, the university is giving additional attention to sexual violence and sexual misconduct, while raising awareness of the support available to students and employees who experience these issues.
THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition features portraits and personal stories of women and men who share their experiences. Their stories reveal the profound impact that sexual violence, both online and offline, can have, while highlighting the importance of being heard.
Each participant shares how they found the courage to speak out and encourages visitors to do the same. The exhibition also invites visitors to reflect on their own role. How do we listen to one another? How do we respond when someone shares their experience? And how can each of us contribute to creating a safe environment for everyone?
Students and employees are encouraged to visit the exhibition. It offers a unique opportunity to start conversations that extend far beyond the exhibition space itself.
By listening, asking questions and continuing to engage in open dialogue, we can help create a culture in which sexual harassment and misconduct are no longer ignored but openly acknowledged and discussed.
HEAR ME NOW also highlights the positive role that boys and men can play in preventing sexual harassment, misconduct and sexual violence. The exhibition includes a panel featuring portraits of men who speak out against sexual violence and commit themselves to breaking the stigma surrounding these issues. Sexual violence does not affect only girls and women; boys and men experience it too. This is another taboo that deserves greater attention. WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING
The exhibition is complemented by workshops and training for students and employees, delivered by Emancipator, and training sessions for professionals, delivered by Centrum 1622.
These sessions provide opportunities for reflection, dialogue and meeting others. Participants are invited to explore topics including consent, gender norms, sexual harassment and misconduct, and bystander intervention.
The aim is to equip students and professionals with the knowledge and confidence to start conversations, recognise warning signs and contribute to a safe learning and working environment.

HEAR ME NOW will be on display from 1 to 11 December 2026 in the Atrium of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Johanna Westerdijkplein 75, The Hague. Admission is free. Guided tours and additional introductions to the exhibition are available.
OFFICIAL OPENING
The opening event promises to be an inspiring gathering featuring personal stories, opportunities to meet others and, of course, a visit to the exhibition. Refreshments will be provided.
Everyone with an interest in this important subject is warmly invited to attend, whether you are a student, an employee or otherwise connected with the university.
During the event, we will share the story behind HEAR ME NOW and explain how the project came to life. The exhibition will be officially opened by Elisabeth Minnemann, President of the Executive Board of The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The programme concludes with a spoken-word performance by Amara van der Elst.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of opportunity to visit the exhibition, continue the conversation and meet other attendees.

LUNCHTIME PERFORMANCE – DAVEY TURNHOUT
On 8 December, from 12.00 to 1.00 pm, comedian Davey Turnhout will present his performance Chaos in Speakers' Corner at the main campus of The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
In this performance, he speaks openly and accessibly about his own experiences of sexual abuse and the impact it has had on his life. The combination of humour, vulnerability and the discussion that follows makes the performance both powerful and thought-provoking.
Attendance is free, no registration is required and lunch is included
